Mission of Love Charities is hiring a Case Manager full-time. This exempt position will be responsible for intake of new clients and management of a caseload. The Case Manager will perform an intake and determine a client’s needs. The purpose of this position is to identify needs and make concrete recommendations to the client that will positively impact his or her life. The goal for all clients is self-sufficiency.
The Case Manager may put a client in touch with an array of services after the initial assessment. Services include: housing, healthcare, hygiene, behavioral and mental health, substance abuse, employment, workforce development, education, public benefits, child care, after-school programs, budgeting/money management, legal issues, consumer credit, parenting education, domestic violence and other life-skills related services. Each of these services is critical to self-sufficiency and contributes to stability.
For this position the candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field. Good communication skills are necessary to perform this work. The candidate will be dealing with families and individuals in crisis and must be able to handle multiple tasks at once. Recording everything in the client record is a necessary, everyday task. Being part of a team is essential to this job position. If critical incidents arise in the management of a case it must be reported immediately to the Chief Executive Officer for action. Other team members are also available to assist in crisis incidents. The candidate must be able to function well as a member of a team.
Tracking client progress on a weekly basis is required. Attending meetings at the state, city and county level to access needed resources is also essential to the position. The candidate must be able to maintain confidential information.
Having empathy and understanding of disenfranchised groups is a desirable trait in a candidate for this position. Having a passion for working with homeless populations and low-income families and individuals is key t o success in this position as well.
