Annual Coat and Shoe Giveaway on October 22nd

Mission of Love Charities hosted the Annual Coat and Shoe Giveaway on October 22, 2022. It was a crisp fall day and children in the community needed all of the coats with the weather changing to colder temperatures. Many parents and children showed up to collect brand new coats. Snacks and beverages were available for those who wanted them.

The coats were donated by Howard University’s WHUR Radio (@WHURfm) and were all brand new. Chef Sammy Davis Jr. (@ceochefsamnydavisjr) and Forrest Hall of the AOTA Creative Group (@AOTAGroup) also sponsored the Annual Coat and Shoe Giveaway this year. A huge thank you to sponsors of the event – their contributions made it possible to help the community with new coats for school children of all ages.

Mission of Love Charities’ staff and volunteers were present to assist in the coat distribution. Coats were categorized by boy and girl styles and also sized according to approximate age. Thanks to the generous donations, each child was considered in advance planning for the event so the sizing and style would fit.

Children and parents received their coats with a great big smile and thank you to staff and volunteers who were on hand to make sure the event went smoothly for all who participated.
