Recently, two new employees joined Mission of Love Charities, Richard Majuk and Michelle Person. Majuk is the new Education Manager and has a background in teaching overseas as well as working for a private school here in the United States. Person is an Administrative Assistant with a background in working for a hospital. Both have unique abilities to bring to their roles and are welcome members of the team.
Richard Majuk is the new Education Manager at Mission of Love Charities. He has a B.A. in the Social Sciences from the State University of New York (Stony Brook) and a M.A. in International Affairs from American University. Majuk’s professional background includes work in the private school sector as Director of Career Placement and Director of Admissions. His teaching background has ranged from Senior Literacy Tutor volunteer to public school teacher, to college instructor, both here and abroad. Majuk served overseas for five years as an Instructor and Program Coordinator in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) trainings. With this diverse background, he brings many skills to the Education Manager role. At Mission of Love Charities Majuk is helping to rebuild and grow previous workforce development and training efforts, as well as explore new training tracts and classes, for both onsite and offsite trainings. He will assist in managing MOLC’s own, re-dedicated, on-site learning center that will support new in-house, work-readiness programs, plus, help clients perform online job searches or join remote, self-paced programs. Majuk also does some proposal writing as well as outreach to private organizations and government agencies, such as the American Job Center Community Network (AJCCN), or those players implementing the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). All of Majuk’s efforts contribute to increasing clients’ employability.
Michelle Person recently joined Mission of Love Charities as an Administrative Assistant. She has an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from the University of the District of Columbia and has a Certified Nursing Assistant Certification. Person has a background as a Clinical Technician at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital where she worked at the desk as well as in patient care. At Georgetown University Hospital she worked hand in hand with managers, doctors, nurses and technicians to make certain everything went smoothly on the floor. In Person’s role as Administrative Assistant at Mission of Love Charities she has many duties. One of her main jobs is to coordinate outreach and special events with senior housing and schools. Person works with directors of senior living communities to set up events on food security. She is coordinating a health clinic and is putting in place health care professionals for the event. She is also involved with getting clients into the Assistance in Community Integration Services (ACIS) program. Person takes the in- person application from homeless clients who may have alcohol and drug abuse and mental problems. She assists in finding housing for homeless individuals through the ACIS program.
