Mission of Love Charities hosted its annual Toy Giveaway on December 17, 2022. Over 400 participants made it a busy and fun day for all who came out. Staff and volunteers were ready for everyone with brightly colored bags filled with new toys.
The Toy Drive began in earnest several months before the Toy Giveaway, with boxes for donations placed at Prince George’s County businesses. Donations received from the community were welcomed by Mission of Love Charities. The organization gave away all new toys this year – many with an educational theme.
Parents and children attended the fun filled holiday event. Some had some s’mores as a treat that day. Hot chocolate was also given out to keep everyone warm and toasty. Santa Claus showed up to wow a crowd of kids. Delegate Andrea Harrison came to the Toy Giveaway and Mission of Love Charities is grateful for her participation and support this year.
The Toy Giveaway was made possible by sponsors and volunteers who worked the event right alongside of staff. Clement Troutman, a Board member and owner of the Tropical Smoothie Café was present to help hand out toys. Board member Anthony Perez of LA Perez Consulting, LLC was also on hand to give out toys. Members of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. came to the event to help pass out toys to kids and parents. Gaylord Hotels brought a whole box of toys and volunteers to work at the Toy Giveaway as well. The work of volunteers was much needed to serve the extra large crowd this year.
Other sponsors for the Toy Drive and Giveaway include: Cort Furniture, N’Style Hair Grooming, Mary & Main, M&T Bank, Pohanka Honda, Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, Restored Behavioral Health Services, LLC and Target. Thank you for all of your support this holiday season.
Happy holidays to everyone who came to the Toy Giveaway and those who helped distribute toys to parents and children. A great turnout coupled with enthusiasm made for a fun family event for everyone.
